Semifinal Results

The Women’s Combined Climbing Semi Finals have officially concluded and eight women have advanced to the Finals, which will take place on Saturday (August 10th).

After Janja’s performance in Bouldering on Tuesday – where she got to the top of two of the four routes in only one attempt and topped the other two routes in a handful of tries – most people felt confident that she had only gotten better since the 2021 Olympics and would almost definitely advance to the Finals. But before that, she had to score high enough in the Lead Semi Final. On Thursday, she competed in Lead and fell at the last hold – a feat that only one other female climber achieved at these Olympics! Janja’s performance in both Bouldering and Lead led to the highest combined score out of the 20 women that competed in the Semi Finals, which means she’s entering the Finals as the athlete to beat.

During the Semi Finals, Janja displayed her quick problem-solving skills, dynamic power, and impressive stamina, and she did it all with an energetic grace that has enthralled audiences around the world since she began competing on the global climbing circuit.

The women who have advanced to the Finals will compete in both Bouldering and Lead disciplines on the same day – a true test of physical and mental stamina. It will be quite the competition to witness, especially since we know that Janja will give everything she has.

I’ll be watching, and I hope you will be, too – Go Slovenia!
